We are excited to welcome Megan Spearman as our new Clinical Coordinator.
Megan just celebrated her six year anniversary at Cypress Creek EMS. Megan graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology with a concentration in Pathogenesis and Immunity from THE University of Texas. Hook ‘Em! She then applied to PA school but didn’t get in. A friend suggested she get her EMT to gain patient care hours, so she enrolled in our EMT program. She ended up enjoying EMT class a lot, and after encouragement from Rob Atripaldi, she started the paramedic program only three weeks after graduating from EMT class.
Emergency medicine scared her in the past, and she had thought of becoming a dermatology PA because “it sounded safe and I wouldn’t have to make life or death decisions.” During her EMT and paramedic education, she fell in love with EMS and emergency medicine and now can’t imagine practicing any other kind of medicine. Shortly after getting her P-2 paramedic, she began helping out with the paramedic class and has been an adjunct faculty member since 2016.
Megan and Kamron Greer, another CCEMS paramedic, have lived together in the area for three years this August and have three dogs, Nala, Bowie, and Chesty. When not teaching paramedics or practicing EMS medicine, she enjoys long walks down the aisles of Target, Hobby Lobby, and Kirklands. She and Kamron are currently enjoying renovating their home, with the next big step turning their barn into a bardonimum. Megan also enjoyed international travel before COVID and almost got stuck in Ireland at the outset of the pandemic.
In the role of Clinical Coordinator, Megan will ensure our EMS students are set up for success during clinical rotations, help keep our education program and records organized, and mentor students as they encounter the challenges involved in becoming an EMS professional.
